I am a political scientist with a Ph.D. in Government from Harvard University. My dissertation, "A Theory of Protest Escalation," investigates the origins and significance of large waves of mass protest in democratic regimes, from May 1968 in France to the 2017 anti-corruption protests in Romania. Aside from identity politics and collective action, my research interests include media, electoral politics, social policy, migration, and citizenship. My main regional expertise is Latin America, with a particular focus on Brazil. I am the founder of Atlas Político, a leading digital platform for political transparency in Brazil and Mexico that employs advanced data analytics and visualization to help citizens track the performance of their elected representatives. I also write opinion pieces for El País.
